Reblooming azaleas
Most azaleas put on one big show in spring and then they're done for the year. Reblooming azaleas flower in spring, then flush again with new blooms through summer and into fall, so you get months of color from the same shrub.

Tips for success
Light
About 4 to 6 hours of sun gives the best rebloom. Morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal in hot summer areas. In deep shade they'll grow but flower less.
Soil & water
Plant in acidic, well-drained soil enriched with compost, and mulch 2 to 3 inches deep. Keep the soil evenly moist through summer, when new flower buds are forming.
Feeding
Feed in spring after the first bloom with a slow-release fertilizer made for azaleas and other acid-loving plants.
Pruning
Little pruning is needed. Shape lightly right after the main spring bloom, and avoid heavy cuts late in the season.
Colder zones
In zones 4 to 6, try our hardy dwarf rhododendrons such as Ramapo and Purple Gem.
